Kwangjae Lee: "Roh Moo-hyun's Dream Not Fulfilled... Will Announce Presidential Candidacy on the 27th"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] On the 23rd, Lee Kwang-jae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, officially declared his candidacy for the presidential election at the 12th anniversary memorial service for the late former President Roh Moo-hyun.
After the memorial service held in Bongha Village, Lee told reporters, "I will challenge myself for the hope, future, and unity of the Republic of Korea," and added, "I have decided to make my candidacy declaration at the Small and Medium Business Central Association in Yeouido on the 27th."
He said, "I want to become a pioneer who, together with candidates Lee Jae-myung, Chung Sye-kyun, and Lee Nak-yon, will jointly forge the great historical current of former President Roh." Lee emphasized, "I intend to challenge for hope and the future, and for the unity of Korea. To create the future and hope, unity is absolutely necessary. National unity was also the most urgent dream of former President Roh."
He added, "I feel sorry that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet, and after the by-elections, we have not sufficiently reached the hearts of the people through sincere reflection and innovation, but I have decided to declare my candidacy."
Lee recalled, "I thought that making him, who lost in Busan, the president would change the country, and (former President Roh) was elected president 10 years later. Since then, we have gone through turbulent times together, with long periods of glory, frustration, and pain."
Lee said, "Former President Roh's dreams have not yet been realized," and added, "The dream of being a balancer in Northeast Asia, the dream of balanced development, the dream of a digital nation, and the dream of building a strong country for the powerless, poor, and struggling people have not yet been fulfilled."
