Kim Sun-ho, Gurye County Governor, Joins Challenge Condemning Japan's Radioactive Wastewater Ocean Discharge
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Kim Soon-ho, the governor of Gurye-gun, joined the relay challenge condemning Japan's decision to discharge radioactive contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the ocean on the 21st.
Starting in Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do, this challenge is a campaign urging the Japanese government to withdraw its decision last month to discharge approximately 1.25 million tons of radioactive contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the ocean over at least 30 years starting from 2023.
Through his SNS account, Governor Kim said, "The ocean discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant is an unacceptable act that threatens human life and destroys the marine ecosystem," adding, "The Japanese government must immediately withdraw its decision to discharge the contaminated water into the ocean."
