Mapo-gu Hosts the 1st Online Yeonnam Rose Festival
Online Festival Presented Through Video, Released on May 22 on Mapo-gu YouTube Channel... Featuring Rose Fences and the Beauty of Spring, Mapo-gu Mayor and Maria Appear in Festival Video
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) will hold the "1st Online Yeonnam Rose Festival" over two days on the 22nd and 23rd.
Hosted by the Yeonnam-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee, this festival is significant as it was selected as a resident participation budget project in Mapo-gu in 2021, themed around "roses," with active participation and planning by local residents.
The "Online Yeonnam Rose Festival" is a new type of festival presented through videos, featuring scenes of Yeonnam-dong including the Daemyeong Apartment rose fence, a local tourist attraction, rose craft workshops, a children's rose drawing contest, and celebratory performances.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, videos were filmed and produced in small groups at various locations to avoid large gatherings.
Additionally, videos were planned in collaboration with related organizations such as the Mapo Craft Center, which opened last November, and the Yeonnam Global Village Center for foreigners and multicultural families, providing an opportunity to consider what can be done together for local residents in the future.
It is also worth looking forward to the celebratory performance in the festival video, where you can meet "Maria," who gained popularity by appearing on Mistrot 2.
Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun of Mapo-gu also participated in the pre-recorded video to introduce the festival, expressing his hope that many residents will enjoy the beautiful spring days and have meaningful time through the Yeonnam Rose Festival.
The pre-produced festival video will be released on the official myMAPO Mapo-gu YouTube channel starting at 10 a.m. on the 22nd.
For those who visit the rose fence, the background of this online festival, offline, safety personnel will be stationed on-site during the festival period to ensure social distancing is observed and visitors can enjoy safely.
The Yeonnam-dong rose fence became a place gradually gaining popularity through word of mouth since the "Rose Fence Creation Project" was selected as a resident participation budget project in 2019, which enriched the roses around Daemyeong Apartment.
With the nearby beautiful Gyeongui Line Forest Park, cafes, and charming workshops, Yeonnam-dong has become a popular tourist destination attracting many visitors, and it is a neighborhood with promising prospects.
