Repair of Parkmigo Ridge Retaining Wall and Mural Creation in Geumcheon-gu
Implementation of Retaining Wall Surface Repair Work to Prevent Facility Safety Accidents... Environmental Improvement and Landmark Creation through Murals Reflecting Local Characteristics
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Parkmigo Ridge retaining wall is located at a key traffic point entering Geumcheon-gu, Seoul from Anyang, Gyeonggi-do. It has a high flow of people and features a waterfall park, serving as a resting area for local residents.
However, due to fading and detachment caused by the aging of the existing murals, as well as issues detracting from the road's aesthetics, the need for maintenance has been raised.
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) announced that it will carry out the Parkmigo Ridge retaining wall repair and mural creation project to prevent safety accidents and improve road aesthetics.
The project involves repairing the surface of the aged retaining wall and creating murals that are recognizable as a local cultural space. It passed the Seoul Public Art Committee review in March.
The mural design reflects specific images and values linked to the geographical features and the local festival established as the "King Jeongjo's Royal Procession," incorporating the ginkgo tree, a symbolic tree of the area, to add unique local elements.
The district plans to start the retaining wall surface repair work on the 21st and complete the mural creation work within 6 to 7 weeks.
Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon said, "This project is expected not only to maintain facilities and improve road aesthetics but also to promote the area to people from other regions using the road and retaining wall."
