Smack obtains patent for 'Internal Cutting Processing Device'... "Expecting sales increase through enhanced technological competitiveness"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Smac announced on the 17th through a public disclosure that it has obtained a patent for a "processing device for internal cutting" that can improve the efficiency of machine tool processing.
The newly acquired patent is a device that can perform cutting processing on a workpiece by inserting a tool into the interior of the workpiece and rotating the tool in place.
To cut the inside of a workpiece, it is necessary to process it using a dedicated machine or machining center that requires special orders. Due to the complex structure, the work was difficult and it was hard to expect productivity improvement relative to cost. Smac applied the developed technology to a CNC lathe, simplifying the structure and making work accessibility easier, thus enabling expected productivity improvement relative to cost.
This patented technology allows processing of a differential case, a major vehicle component, using only a CNC lathe without the need to configure an expensive machining center. It is expected that demand from related industries will be high in terms of process efficiency, and sales growth is also anticipated accordingly.
A Smac official said, "With this patent acquisition, our company's machine business division capabilities have been further enhanced, and it will sufficiently contribute to sales growth," adding, "As the overall machine industry conditions are improving, the trend of performance rebound will continue."
