[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Kim Ki-hyun, Acting Party Leader and Floor Leader of the People Power Party, opposed the ruling party's push to pass the bill establishing the National Education Committee, calling it "Moon Jae-in-style leftist education" and stating that it is absolutely unacceptable.
On the 17th, Acting Leader Kim said at the People Power Party Emergency Committee, "The bill to establish the National Education Committee, a representative education malpractice of the Moon Jae-in administration, is poised to be pushed through again by the power of the Democratic Party of Korea."
The National Assembly Education Committee held a coordination committee meeting on the 13th without the participation of People Power Party members and passed the "Act on the Establishment and Operation of the National Education Committee." The National Education Committee, responsible for establishing mid- to long-term core education policies such as university admission policies and teacher training, is one of President Moon's campaign promises and national tasks.
In response, Acting Leader Kim strongly criticized the bill's passage, saying it was "passed through the Democratic Party's unilateral forced vote" and that "the ruling party's countdown to forced processing has begun."
He added, "By placing the National Education Committee under the president's jurisdiction and filling it with pro-government figures, it will serve as a loyalist rubber stamp supporting Moon Jae-in-style leftist education content, revealing a sinister plan to indoctrinate the rising future generation with biased generational education."
