Unisem Selected for Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's 'World Class Project'... "Accelerating Growth with Government Support"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Unisem announced on the 17th that it has been selected as a target company for the World Class project led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of Industry).
The World Class project is a government initiative that selects mid-sized companies or companies with export and innovation capabilities to provide support for research and development (R&D) as well as financial and export consulting in collaboration with related organizations. This project plans to select around 200 excellent companies by 2030 and invest a total of 913.5 billion KRW.
Unisem was among the 19 companies selected in the first year of the second phase of the project. The selected companies this year will receive up to 6 billion KRW in support over four years.
Unisem is a specialized company in scrubbers, which are equipment for treating harmful gases generated in semiconductor and display production processes, and chillers, which are temperature control devices. It supplies equipment to leading domestic and international semiconductor and display companies such as Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, LG Display, and BOE.
A company representative stated, “We will receive support for export, finance, ESG (environment, social, and governance), and management consulting from the ‘World Class Sherpa,’ composed of the Ministry of Industry, financial institutions, KOTRA, and other related organizations. This project not only recognizes our corporate capabilities from the government but also provides support to grow further on the global stage, so we expect our future growth to gain momentum.”

Meanwhile, Unisem recorded its highest quarterly performance ever by achieving sales and operating profit of 77.6 billion KRW and 13.6 billion KRW, respectively, in its Q1 earnings announcement on the 13th.
