23 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases in Bulk at Cheorwon Military Base
On the 16th, 23 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in a military unit in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province.
According to Gangwon health authorities, a soldier in his 20s, identified as A, belonging to an army division, tested positive for COVID-19 the previous day. Since then, a total of 26 people (one classified as a Seoul case) have been infected over two days until today.
After returning from leave, A showed suspicious symptoms such as coughing while under cohort isolation starting from the 6th, and was confirmed positive after a diagnostic test on the 13th.
In response, the military conducted mass testing of the unit, resulting in 2 additional confirmed cases the previous day and 23 more infections today.
