Entertainment Venues in Jeonnam Region Limited to 'Up to 4 People' Until the 23rd
Ban on Groups of 5 or More... Fines and Penalties Imposed for Violations
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Private gatherings at entertainment facilities in Jeonnam region are limited to up to 4 people.
On the 14th, Jeonnam Province announced that social distancing measures will be partially strengthened for five types of entertainment facilities including nightclubs, karaoke bars, emotional pubs, hunting pubs, and colatecs (including dance halls), as well as singing practice rooms.
This measure is to preemptively block the spread of local infections after 166 confirmed cases occurred recently in the eastern areas such as Yeosu, Suncheon, Gwangyang, and Goheung.
The five types of entertainment facilities and singing practice rooms in the province are prohibited from gatherings of 5 or more people until the 23rd. Violations will result in fines and penalties.
Currently, social distancing in Yeosu, Suncheon, Gwangyang, and Goheung has been raised to level 2, allowing private gatherings of up to 4 people only.
From today, the province is enforcing an administrative order for diagnostic testing of workers at entertainment facilities.
Until the situation stabilizes, proactive diagnostic testing will be conducted weekly for workers at entertainment facilities and singing practice rooms.
Violators of the administrative order will be fined up to 100,000 KRW or penalized up to 3 million KRW according to the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act.
If an infectious disease occurs due to violation, costs for testing, investigation, and treatment may be claimed.

Kang Young-gu, Director of Health and Welfare Bureau of Jeonnam Province, said, “There are many asymptomatic infected individuals recently, making it a very dangerous situation where people can be infected or infect others without knowing. Minimizing contact is the only way to protect everyone’s safety,” and urged, “Those with suspicious symptoms or who have been in contact with related persons must get tested at public health center screening clinics.”
