Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Launches Detailed Safety Inspection of Port Facilities
Focused Inspection of 22 Port Facilities Including Gwangyang Port Phase 1 Wharf by Year-End
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) announced on the 14th that it will conduct detailed safety inspections and performance evaluations of port facilities such as docks and bridges at Yeosu and Gwangyang ports by the end of this year.
The Authority will invest 1.2 billion KRW to carry out detailed safety inspections (17 locations including Phase 1 dock at Gwangyang Port), performance evaluations (2 locations including the scrap dock), and regular inspections (3 locations including management docks).
In particular, during this inspection, advanced 4th industrial revolution technologies such as underwater drones, GPR surveys, and side-scan sonar will be utilized to investigate external damages and causes of defects, ensuring the safety of inspection technicians while enhancing the reliability of the investigation.
Based on the inspection results, urgent repairs and maintenance or reinforcement will be carried out for necessary items, and a maintenance management plan will be established.
