Musical 'Hadestown' starring Park Kang-hyun, Xiumin, Kim Sun-young, and others
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dong-hyun] The musical "Hadestown," which set Broadway ablaze by winning 8 Tony Awards and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Album, will premiere as the world's first licensed Korean-language performance this August at the LG Arts Center.
Production company S&Co announced the 12 lead actors of the musical "Hadestown" on the 14th.
Cho Hyung-kyun, Park Kang-hyun, and Xiumin have been cast as the dreamer Orpheus. Choi Jae-rim and Kang Hong-seok were both named for the role of Hermes.
Kim Sun-young and Park Hye-na will play Persephone, while Kim Hwan-hee and Kim Su-ha are set to portray Eurydice.
Ji Hyun-jun, Yang Jun-mo, and Kim Woo-hyung will perform as Hades.
Looking at the 12 actors leading this historic Korean premiere, they have collectively won 21 trophies at domestic musical award ceremonies from 2000 to 2020.

"Hadestown" is a dramatization of Ana?s Mitchell's album of the same name, who wrote the book, music, and lyrics. It was first presented Off-Broadway in 2016, then traveled through Canada and London before opening on Broadway in 2019. It received acclaim for its unique musical style blending rock and jazz and its groundbreaking direction.
