Lee and others were prosecuted on charges of threatening former Value Invest Korea (VIK) CEO Cheol Lee by sending five letters and mentioning the possibility of investigating his family, demanding that he report allegations of misconduct by Chairman Yu. During this process, suspicions arose that Prosecutor General Donghoon Han was involved, sparking the so-called 'prosecutor-media collusion' controversy. However, while the prosecution indicted Lee, they were unable to name Prosecutor Han as an accomplice.
