Jeongeup-si Selected for Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Youth Challenge Support Project'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 13th that it was selected in the ‘2021 Youth Challenge Support Project’ implemented by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the only one selected in Jeonbuk.
With this selection, the city secured 200 million KRW in national funds and 40 million KRW in city funds, laying the foundation to help young people who have given up job searching participate in social activities and challenge employment.
The ‘Youth Challenge Support Project,’ conducted for local governments nationwide operating youth centers, was implemented to boost young people’s motivation to seek jobs and promote employment.
The project discovers and recruits young people who have given up job searching, providing customized (2?3 months) programs such as confidence recovery, career exploration, and employment competency enhancement education, and supports employment and start-ups for those who complete the program.
The target is young people aged 18 to 34 who have no history of employment or participation in education or vocational training for more than six months recently and have given up job searching.
The city plans to carry out the project through the Youth Support Center’s Clean Zone, aiming to discover 250 young participants by December this year.
Youth who complete the program will receive an incentive of 200,000 KRW, and lifestyle support services will also be provided via phone and email to help them enter social life and the labor market.
In particular, since the program completion will be linked with the National Employment Support System, it is expected to greatly help increase the actual employment rate of young people.
