[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] A woman in her 20s was arrested by the police for repeatedly hitting her daughter, who was less than a year old, during a marital quarrel, causing the child to fall into a critical condition.
On the 12th, the Sacheon Police Station in Gyeongnam announced that they had urgently detained a woman in her 20s, identified as A, on charges of child abuse and are currently investigating the circumstances of the case.
According to the police, around 1 a.m. on the same day, A hit her daughter, who was less than one year old, multiple times with her hands during a fight with her husband B, also in his 20s, at their home in Sacheon, Gyeongnam.
After noticing the serious condition of their daughter, the couple took her to an emergency room at a hospital in Jinju around 8 a.m. that day. Medical staff, seeing bruises on the baby's face and body, suspected child abuse and reported it to the police.
The police who arrived at the scene urgently arrested A. During the investigation, A reportedly stated that she hit her daughter because she could not control her anger during the marital quarrel.
The baby had bruises on her face and body, showed signs of contusions and cerebral hemorrhage, and is currently hospitalized in the intensive care unit.
