Choi Tae-won "New Approach Needed"... First Meeting of the Chamber of Commerce Chairpersons

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Choi Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), presided over the KCCI Chairman's Meeting on the 12th in Seoul. As his first meeting since taking office, it served as an introductory gathering among the reorganized chairpersons and discussed future priority business directions, the Chamber reported.
At the meeting, they discussed what the business community can do to ensure sustainable economic development and solve social issues in the post-COVID-19 era. There was consensus on the need for a forum to find new roles for companies that align with the times and to discuss solutions to economic and social problems. The chairpersons agreed that "amid accelerating technological changes and social issues due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the corporate sector should take a more active role and responsibility in finding new models for economic development and solutions to social problems," the Chamber stated.
Chairman Choi said, "Now is the time to redefine problems and consider solutions not only from our own standpoint but also from the perspectives of the public, government, and National Assembly. A new approach is needed in responding to economic issues," adding, "I hope the Chamber can serve as a focal point to gradually bring about change."
Seventeen chairpersons attended the meeting, including Chairman Choi, Gong Young-woon, President of Hyundai Motor Company; Geum Chun-su, Vice Chairman of Hanwha; Kim Nam-goo, Chairman of Korea Investment Holdings; Kim Taek-jin, CEO of NCSoft; Park Ji-won, Vice Chairman of Doosan; Yoon Do-jun, Chairman of Dongwha Pharm; Lee Dong-woo, President of Lotte Holdings; Lee Soon-hyung, Chairman of SeAH Steel Holdings; Lee Woo-hyun, Vice Chairman of OCI; Lee In-yong, President of Samsung Electronics; Lee Han-joo, CEO of Bespin Global; Lee Hyung-hee, SV Chairman of SK Supex Council; Jang Byung-gyu, Chairman of Krafton; Jeong Ki-ok, Chairman of LSC Food; Hyun Jeong-eun, Chairwoman of Hyundai Group; and Woo Tae-hee, Vice Chairman of KCCI.
