Gwangjin-gu Acha Mountain Plaza, Forest Path, and Library Name Contest
Gwangjin-gu to Hold 'Idea Bank Special Contest' Until the 20th... Official Naming Contest for Newly Created Plaza, Forest Path, and Library in Achasan
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is holding the ‘Gwangjin-gu Idea Bank Special Contest’ until the 20th to gather residents’ participation and interest in the Achasan redevelopment project.
The contest theme is to create spaces that embody the culture and history of Achasan, specifically for three facilities: ▲Plaza (around 370-3, Gwangjang-dong) ▲Forest Trail (section from Achasan Meeting Plaza to Pyeongganggyo Bridge) ▲Library (around 5-117, Gwangjang-dong). The contest aims to select creative official names reflecting residents’ opinions for each facility.
Looking at the newly developed facilities, first, the ‘Plaza’ will transform the existing old and narrow ‘Meeting Plaza’ and ‘Achasan Public Parking Lot’ into a new cultural and leisure space for residents by June.
Additionally, the 820-meter ‘Forest Trail’ from Meeting Plaza to Pyeongganggyo Bridge will include a wooden deck walkway (deck road) designed for easy access by people with mobility challenges.
Furthermore, the ‘Library,’ scheduled to be built in 2022, will have a total floor area of 390㎡ over two floors, consisting of a reading room, book caf?, and community room, enabling residents to enjoy reading and cultural activities in a natural setting.
The contest is open to all citizens who love Achasan. Participants can submit their ideas directly through the Idea Bank submission window on the district office website or by sending a proposal via email.
Submitted ideas will be reviewed by the Proposal Review Committee, and outstanding resident proposals will be awarded Gold Prize (1,000,000 KRW), Silver Prize (500,000 KRW), and Bronze Prize (300,000 KRW).
The results will be announced on the district website at the end of this month. For more details, please contact the Planning and Budget Division of Gwangjin-gu Office.
