Boseong-gun Culture and Arts Center Selected for Bangbanggokgok Cultural Sympathy Project... 100 Million KRW National Funding Supported
Musical Myeongrang Market, Lightning Man and 5 Other Works to Be Presented
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Cheol-woo) announced on the 11th that it has been selected for the ‘Attracting Excellent Performance Programs of National/Public and Private Art Groups’ under this year’s Bangbanggokgok Cultural Sympathy Project in collaboration with the Arts Center, receiving 103 million KRW in national funding.
With this project selection, Boseong-gun plans to stage five performances by the end of this year.
The first half of the year features ▲ Myeongrang Market (musical, June 10), a musical drama depicting the lives and sorrows of neighbors set against the backdrop of a traditional market.
In the second half, the lineup includes ▲ K-JAZZ
A county official said, “Amid ongoing difficulties due to COVID-19, we are making thorough preparations for quarantine and performances to comfort the weary minds and bodies of local residents and hope this will be an opportunity to enjoy cultural arts through high-quality performance programs.”

Meanwhile, the ‘Bangbanggokgok Cultural Sympathy Project with Arts Centers’ is hosted and organized by the Korea Arts & Culture Centers Association and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts Council, aiming to reduce cultural disparities between regions and revitalize local arts centers.
