Arrest Warrant Issued for Man in His 40s Who Killed Acquaintance After Summoning to Repay Borrowed Money
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] A man who killed an acquaintance he called out to repay borrowed money and then abandoned the body was arrested by the police.
The Gwangju Northern Police Station announced on the 11th that they have applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 40s, identified as A, on charges of murder for killing a woman with whom he had a debt conflict.
A is suspected of striking a woman in her 40s, B, who was an acquaintance, with a blunt weapon in a mountain area in Namwon, Jeonbuk, in mid-last month, causing her death and then abandoning the body.
It was investigated that A had a debt relationship with B’s family.
After A borrowed about 20 million won from B’s mother and failed to repay it for a considerable period, it is known that A and B had conflicts over the debt repayment issue.
Responding to A’s contact saying “I will repay the money,” B accompanied him to Namwon, Jeonbuk. There, A reportedly got into another argument with B over the money issue before committing the crime.
The police received a missing person report from B’s family and conducted an investigation, leading to A’s emergency arrest in Gwangju the day before.
After A’s confession on the day, the police found the body at the presumed crime scene.
In the police investigation, A stated, “I acted impulsively because I felt disrespected.”
