Gangneung-si Adjusts Social Distancing from 'Strengthened Level 2' to 'Level 2'
Restaurants, Cafes, Indoor Sports Facilities, and Karaoke Rooms Allowed to Operate Until 10 PM
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangneung City, which has been implementing the 'enhanced Level 2' social distancing due to a cluster infection of COVID-19 among foreign workers, will adjust to the same 'Level 2' as the metropolitan area at noon on the 11th.
Gangneung City stated on the 11th, "Most of the tests for contacts of confirmed domestic cases have been completed, and we made the decision after observing the infection trends within the region," adding, "Although concerns about foreign workers remain, the adjustment was made because their contact with domestic residents is different."
According to this adjustment in the social distancing level, restrictions on operating hours for restaurants, cafes, indoor sports facilities, and karaoke rooms, which were previously limited until 9 PM, will be relaxed to 10 PM. However, for restaurants and cafes, takeout and delivery will be allowed from 10 PM to 5 AM the next day.
The city plans to continue operating screening clinics at the Gangneung City Public Health Center to prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the region, and will conduct follow-up tests every three days (on the 12th and 15th) targeting foreign workers under focused management.
