This event was planned in response to the recent issues surrounding kimchi, such as the controversy over Chinese naked kimchi and the debate over the origin of kimchi, reflecting the consumer trend of increasing demand for trustworthy domestically produced kimchi.
The event products include a total of 12 items such as Bibigo Baechu Kimchi, Pork Kimchi Stew, Kimchi Fried Rice, and King Dumpling Kimchi Mandu, with a 2+1 promotion applied until the end of this month. This is the first time CU has held a large-scale giveaway event for kimchi-related products.
These products are highly price-competitive even compared to online prices. For example, Bibigo Baechu Kimchi (200g) is priced at 1,800 KRW each during the event, which is about 30% cheaper than the lowest internet price.

A BGF Retail official said, “As local consumption culture has taken root due to COVID-19, the number of customers purchasing domestically produced kimchi at nearby convenience stores has significantly increased amid recent kimchi issues,” adding, “We will continue to introduce various events with domestic manufacturers to help customers shop economically.”
