Gwanak-gu Provides 500,000 Won Temporary Living Expenses to Vulnerable Groups
50 Million KRW Payment to Income-Reduced Vulnerable Households with Income Below 75% of Median and Assets Under 600 Million KRW... Online and On-Site Applications Accepted Until June 4
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is conducting a "Temporary Livelihood Support Project" for low-income households struggling with their livelihoods due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The district announced that the project targets low-income residents who have experienced crises such as income reduction due to COVID-19 but have not received existing welfare benefits or COVID-19 damage support, aiming to eliminate blind spots in government assistance.
Eligibility for application includes vulnerable households whose income from January to May 2021 has decreased compared to 2019-2020, with household income at or below 75% of the median income and assets under 600 million KRW. However, existing welfare recipients of Basic Livelihood Security (livelihood benefits), Emergency Welfare (livelihood support), and those who have received COVID-19 damage support this year are excluded from this project.
Applications can be submitted online (via Bokjiro) from the 10th to the 28th of this month, with household heads applying according to the odd-even rule based on the last digit of their birth year.
On-site applications can be made at the local community service centers from the 17th to the 4th of next month by the household head, household members of the same household, or proxies, bringing identification, a copy of the bankbook, and proof of income reduction.
Regardless of the number of household members, 500,000 KRW in cash will be paid once per household. The district plans to complete payments by the end of June after verifying income and overlap with other projects.
Appeals related to payments can be submitted within seven days from the decision date via the Bokjiro website or local community service centers.
Meanwhile, since April 26, the district has formed a Temporary Livelihood Support Project T/F team composed of a General Promotion Team, Temporary Livelihood Support Team, and Emergency Welfare Team, hiring dedicated personnel to support district and community office tasks to ensure swift and accurate support.
