Dobong-gu, Overcoming COVID-19 Healthily! Free Release of Home Exercise Videos
Introducing indoor exercise videos easy for adults, middle-aged, and seniors to follow, free from April on Dobong-gu's official YouTube 'DobongbongTV'... New obesity improvement program 'Jipkok! Hwak~Jjinsal Escape Online Integrated Exercise Class' also available
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) has released the video "Stay Home! Let’s Exercise at Home~ Part 2" on Dobong-gu’s official YouTube channel ‘DobongbongTV’ for free, following the first video "Stay Home! Let’s Exercise at Home~ Part 1" launched in June 2020 to relieve local residents’ fatigue from COVID-19 and improve physical activity.
Last year, Dobong-gu was the first autonomous district in Seoul to produce exercise videos independently to overcome COVID-19. These videos were distributed through various non-face-to-face media such as YouTube, institutional websites, and SMS messages, resulting in a very high resident satisfaction rate of 97%.
In addition, a new program called "Stay Home! Escape from Sudden Weight Gain Online Integrated Exercise Class" is being operated to break the vicious cycle of obesity.
The district plans to help improve obesity and promote residents’ health by conducting body composition tests and result analysis before and after the program, along with individual health consultations for chronic disease prevention and management.
Stress caused by COVID-19 is said to induce chronic secretion of cortisol, which increases appetite and consequently leads to an increase in body fat, creating a vicious cycle.
A Dobong-gu Public Health Center official pointed out, "To escape obesity, which spreads as easily as infectious diseases during the COVID-19 period, it is important to continue exercising steadily even indoors during daily life."
Mayor Lee Dong-jin of Dobong-gu said, “We have prepared step-by-step exercise videos that anyone can easily follow at home to enhance the immunity and self-health management abilities of local residents who are going through physically and emotionally difficult times,” and added, “We ask for many views of the Stay Home exercise videos that can help wisely overcome these challenging times.”
