Hyundai Glovis Delivers Companion Plants and Groceries for Elderly Living Alone
Hyundai Glovis employees are introducing companion plants prepared for elderly people living alone in the local community.
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Hyundai Glovis announced on the 10th that it delivered sponsorship items to 300 elderly people living alone in areas related to its business sites in celebration of Family Month.
The delivered items were companion plants and food products. About 30 Hyundai Glovis employees personally transplanted companion plants into pots at their homes to prepare them for the elderly living alone. The food products were prepared as ready-to-eat meals that can be easily cooked at home, considering that the elderly may have difficulties using multi-use facilities.
The companion plant prepared by Hyundai Glovis is the Money Tree (Geumjeonsu). The Money Tree grows well even under indoor indirect light and is not demanding, making it easy for anyone to care for.
The sponsorship items were delivered to elderly people living alone in Ulsan and Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, where Hyundai Glovis’s regional business sites are located. Considering the spread of COVID-19, local social workers in the respective areas placed the sponsorship items at the doors of the elderly’s homes in a non-face-to-face manner.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Glovis has been conducting community-based volunteer activities in various ways since 2007. In December last year, together with the non-profit corporation ‘Together Hansup,’ it sponsored 500 children living near its business sites in Busan and Ulsan with lighting, school supplies, and winter protection sets. In the same year, it also delivered coloring books and flowers that help with mental and physical stability to 300 elderly households.
In addition, Hyundai Glovis signed an agreement with the National Disaster Relief Association, a legal relief organization, and has been transporting disaster relief supplies free of charge since 2013. Last year, it transported about 1,100 tons of emergency COVID-19 relief supplies nationwide and about 100 tons of relief supplies needed for recovery to flood-affected areas.
