Ministry of Culture and Tourism Organization, Recruiting 'New Resident Businesses for Gwangyang Dure'
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Korea Tourism Organization and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 9th that they will recruit '2021 New Resident Businesses for Tourism Dure' from the 10th to June 25th to continuously revitalize local tourism.
'Tourism Dure' is a project that supports local residents in creating and operating tourism businesses with unique local characteristics in areas such as accommodation, food and beverage, souvenirs, resident travel, and experiences to revitalize local tourism. As of this month, it supports the establishment and growth of 168 resident businesses in 56 basic local governments nationwide.
The recruitment targets are communities composed of three or more local residents planning to start a business in the tourism sector or wishing to improve management in a total of 36 basic local governments, including 22 newly selected Tourism Dure regions this year and 14 existing Tourism Dure regions. After discovering about 10 new resident businesses per region, customized support according to the growth stage of the finally selected resident businesses will be provided for up to five years.
Selected resident businesses will be supported with customized programs according to growth stages (preliminary, initial, growth) for up to 5 years?3 years basic plus 2 years extension?with a maximum of 110 million KRW to help them grow into representative tourism businesses that serve as a catalyst for local tourism. Additionally, to encourage youth job creation in the region, if two-thirds or more of the resident business members are aged 39 or younger, preferential benefits such as a 10% reduction in self-payment will be provided.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization will support everything from discovering startup ideas using local resources, establishing business models, professional education and site visits to build a startup foundation, pilot projects after startup, customized on-site consultations for each business, and promotional marketing to open sales channels. In the growth stage, special support will also be promoted to strengthen the competitiveness of resident businesses and help them leap to star resident businesses.
Especially from this year, a 'Tourism Dure Professional Consulting Group' of 200 people with practical experience and expertise in ▲startup and management ▲product and menu development ▲design ▲promotion and marketing will be operated to strengthen capabilities and support self-reliance through one-on-one customized consultations for about 380 resident businesses.
Resident communities or businesses wishing to participate in the Tourism Dure project can submit their applications by email by 2 p.m. on June 25th. Application forms can be found on the websites of the Korea Tourism Organization, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Tourism Dure, or the respective city, county, or district offices. After document evaluation in July, a Tourism Dure Academy course will be conducted for newly discovered resident businesses, and 'preliminary resident businesses' will be finally selected in September.
