Kim Ye-ryeong, spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated in a commentary on the 8th, "We reiterate that without resolving the allegations of family preferential investment, he is not qualified to serve as Prime Minister."
The confirmation hearing for nominee Kim was held over two days, from the 6th to the 7th, at the National Assembly. The biggest issue was the preferential treatment allegations involving his second daughter's family in the Lime Fund case. Allegations arose that Kim's second daughter and son-in-law received preferential treatment by subscribing to Lime Asset Management's private fund 'Thetis 11'. Kim countered, saying, "The economic actor is effectively my son-in-law, so calling it a family issue is a kind of framing."
Spokesperson Kim pointed out, "Despite the two-day confirmation hearing, public suspicion regarding preferential investment by Kim's family could not be dispelled. The private fund Thetis 11, created by former Vice President Lee Jong-pil, the main culprit behind the Lime scandal that caused over 1 trillion won in damages to investors, had only six investors including Lee himself, but four of them were Kim's daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and granddaughter."
She continued, "If the fund was not favorable to Kim's daughter, it is only natural to question whether they would have mobilized even young children to invest a large sum of 1.2 billion won. It is no wonder that during the hearing, it was even called a 'lobby fund' with 0% redemption fees and virtually no redemption restrictions, unlike other funds," she criticized.
Additionally, Spokesperson Kim emphasized, "If it is revealed that nominee Kim was aware of his daughter's subscription to the Lime fund or was involved in any way, it should not be forgotten that this not only disqualifies him as a public official but also exposes his immorality, marked by falsehoods, to the public."
