Seoul City Revamps 'Seoul Culture Portal' for Contactless Era... Enjoy Performance Videos at Home
Seoul Culture Portal Information Center → Enhanced Functions with Focus on Non-Face-to-Face Content
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 9th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will extensively revamp and launch the online platform 'Seoul Culture Portal' to reflect the lifestyle changes of citizens after COVID-19. While the existing portal focused mainly on information guidance, this time the functions have been enhanced to allow users to enjoy content non-face-to-face.
The Seoul Culture Portal is an online platform that comprehensively introduces various cultural events such as performances, exhibitions, festivals, education, and experiences hosted, organized, or sponsored by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, autonomous districts, investment-funded institutions, and other related organizations. It also provides information on Seoul’s museums, art galleries, performance venues, cultural centers, libraries, as well as cultural policies and projects promoted by the city at a glance.
Notably, a new menu has been added so that Seoul’s performances, exhibitions, and festivals can now be viewed and appreciated via video at home. Live performances are also linked to real-time streaming channels. A feature recommending the latest popular content, similar to OTT (Over the Top) services like Netflix and Watcha, has also been added.
The major updates of the newly revamped Seoul Culture Portal are fivefold: the establishment of a cultural video menu and linkage to live event streaming channels, recommendation of the latest popular content, introduction of a promotion and application menu for cultural artists and groups, implementation of a membership system and My Page, and the setting of a quick menu bar.
Additionally, an archive space gathering various cultural information such as Seoul’s representative cultural festivals, cultural materials, cultural policies, and galleries has been prepared within the Seoul Culture Portal. Users can directly download materials or access linked related websites. The portal is also connected with the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Culture Headquarters Facebook, related institution websites, and cultural newsletters (webzines) to provide diverse cultural content information.
Meanwhile, to commemorate the homepage revamp, Seoul City is holding an event until the 19th. Participants can capture the event image on the Seoul Culture Portal homepage, share it on SNS, and then register the SNS post on the designated Google event page. Among the participants, 50 people will be selected by lottery to receive coffee coupons. Winners will be announced on the 24th.
