Six Sentenced to Prison for Drug Deals Using 'Mailbox Tossing' Method
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] On the 6th, Jang Yoo-jin, Chief Judge of Criminal Division 4 at Changwon District Court in Gyeongnam, announced that six individuals, including A (30 years old), who were prosecuted for buying and selling drugs using the so-called 'throwing method' (violation of the Narcotics Control Act), were sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 1 year and 6 months to 5 years.
Among them, two were given suspended sentences with probation and ordered to perform 80 hours of community service.
The six were indicted last year for selling, distributing, or purchasing narcotics through the internet messenger Telegram.
They used locations such as mailboxes, outdoor air conditioner units, flower beds beside buildings, under hotel signboards, and caf? restroom sinks as drug transaction sites.
They secretly attached 50g of methamphetamine to a mailbox in a residential complex in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and received 3 million KRW in payment at an underground parking lot in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, using the so-called 'throwing method' to buy and sell drugs.
They also used quick delivery services to purchase or provide narcotics.

The court stated, "The sentence is determined by comprehensively considering various circumstances such as the defendant's age, character, intelligence and environment, motive, means and results of the crime, and circumstances after the crime."
