[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Chonnam National University announced on the 6th that a game company established by student clubs on campus was selected for the Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency's 'Market-Creating Game Project Production Support Program.'
This project supports startup companies to build a game industry ecosystem in the Gwangju area, revitalize the local economy, and create high-quality jobs. Companies selected through the competition receive 70 million KRW in game development funding.
The game company "Reindeer Games," founded by four students from Chonnam National University's academic club PIMM?Kim Young-woo, Jung Hyun-seok, Lim Won-bin, and Kim Min-ki?proposed the role-playing game "Tag Hunter," armed with an original system and an engaging story, earning recognition for their development capabilities and growth potential as a startup.
"Tag Hunter" allows the protagonist to hunt the "tags" (nameplates indicating the properties of objects) of objects appearing in the game and apply them to other objects, thereby diversifying the roles of the objects.
Players can use this ability to solve given puzzles and defeat enemies, and since the game's path and ending change according to the player's choices, they can enjoy a fun experience similar to writing their own story.
The academic club PIMM (Passion In My Mind) is a representative club at Chonnam National University that participates annually in various on- and off-campus competitions and support projects by utilizing advanced software programming techniques and technologies for game and smartphone application development.
