Jungjingong Opens 'Gachi Jeju Store' Sales Promotion Center for Small and Medium-Sized Merchants
20 Small and Medium Businesses Open Stores... Established Inside Jeju Airport 2nd Floor Isolation Waiting Room
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced on the 6th that it held an opening event for the Value Jeju Store, a sales promotion center for small and medium-sized merchants, at Jeju Airport.
SBC, Jeju Free International City Development Center, Korea Airports Corporation, Korea Trade Insurance Corporation, and Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise (a total of five organizations) signed a business agreement last December to strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium-sized merchants and support export activation. Since then, the organizations have been strengthening collaboration to create exemplary cases of growth support for small and medium-sized merchants, which form the foundation of economic recovery, by combining their core competencies.
The Value Jeju Store, the first fruit of collaboration among the five organizations, houses 20 companies, including 14 Jeju-based companies and 6 companies from outside the province, selected through a product evaluation meeting. They plan to exhibit and sell cosmetics, stationery, daily necessities, and more year-round without holidays.
The Value Jeju Store is located on the second floor of the quarantine waiting room inside Jeju Airport, opposite the duty-free shop operated by the Jeju Free International City Development Center (Gate 6), making it easy for consumers using the airport to experience various products from small and medium-sized merchants.
Starting with this project, the five organizations plan to actively support not only domestic demand expansion but also exports by linking their support programs for small and medium-sized merchants struggling due to COVID-19 in a relay manner. Furthermore, based on the performance of operating the promotional store for small and medium-sized merchant products within Jeju Airport, they plan to expand the stores to airports nationwide.

Chairman Kim Hak-do said, "We expect that relay-style support through inter-agency cooperation will greatly help the growth of small and medium-sized merchants," adding, "SBC will utilize its accumulated know-how in corporate support and institutional capabilities to provide customized policy projects necessary for small and medium-sized merchants."
