The signing ceremony was attended by Huh In, Head of Digital Innovation Division at KB Financial Group and President of KB Kookmin Bank, Oh Se-jeong, President of Seoul National University, and Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu. Following the startup collaboration space currently operated in Gangnam, Seoul, KB Financial plans to establish its second support center, the ‘Gwanak KB Innovation Hub,’ in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu. They have secured a space of approximately 130 pyeong and are currently conducting interior construction with the goal of opening in June.
The ‘Gwanak KB Innovation Hub’ will focus on supporting startups by fostering a mutually cooperative system through local early-stage venture and startup infrastructure support, shared knowledge and research resources, and regional community co-prosperity. Accordingly, startups established within the last three years with high originality, innovation, and growth potential across various fields including fintech will be selected, and selected companies will be provided with office space for one year. The hub will also intensively support startup growth by offering research and development (R&D) space, information, and networking opportunities, as well as management consulting and investment support programs for scale-up, utilizing KB Financial’s expert groups.
Additionally, by establishing an organic cooperative system with institutions participating in the Gwanak-gu venture and startup support ecosystem, including Seoul National University, the hub aims to nurture innovative companies that enhance social value by utilizing excellent human and material resources, thereby contributing to regional co-prosperity and development.
