Father of Missing University Student in Hangang Raises 'Possibility of Homicide'... "No Reason to Jump in by Himself"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jumi Lee] The father of medical student Son Jeong-min (22), who went missing at Banpo Hangang Park in Seoul on the 25th of last month and was found dead six days later, pleaded, "My son would never do such a thing on his own," expressing his desire to know the truth.
Son Hyun, the father, said in an interview with YTN Radio's 'Hwang Bo-seon's Start of a New Morning' on the 4th, "I don't know well the difference between something accidental and planned, but Jeong-min would never do that by himself," adding, "Someone definitely did it, and the only difference is whether it was accidental or planned."
Son emphasized that his only request to the police is "to find out how Jeong-min entered the Hangang River between 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m."
He also expressed his grief over losing his son, saying, "When I think of Jeong-min, I can't do anything," and "I am dazed and don't even know what day it is today."
Regarding friend A, who was with his son at the time of the incident and said he "threw away the shoes," Son explained, "Last Monday (April 26), I went to ask and encourage A to provide as much information as possible and to cooperate with the hypnosis investigation," and at that time, "A said that the friend (Jeong-min) suddenly woke up while sleeping, ran, grabbed his teeth, and fell down, and that the shoes and clothes got dirty then."
He added, "Later, I wondered why he emphasized the story about his shoes and clothes getting dirty, since it was not a place where they would get dirty," and raised suspicion, saying, "I wanted to see what was on them, but since the clothes were probably washed, I asked to see the shoes, and he immediately said he threw the shoes away."
Son described the friendship between his son and A, saying, "They were among the seven close friends who traveled together, and just before the COVID-19 outbreak, they even went on a trip to Taiwan together."
