Seoul Scholarship Foundation Seeks University Scholars from Low-Income Families and Independence Patriots' Descendants... 4.1 Billion Won Support
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Scholarship Foundation announced on the 3rd that it is recruiting scholarship recipients in two categories, the Seoul Hope University Scholarship and the Independence Patriots' Descendants Scholarship, until the 14th. The selection scale includes 2,470 low-income university students and 100 university students who are descendants of independence patriots, providing a total of 4.1 billion KRW in scholarships.
The Seoul Hope University Scholarship aims to alleviate the tuition burden for university students by supporting up to 2 million KRW per year for the student's own tuition fees. Eligible applicants are students enrolled in universities located in Seoul or Seoul citizens enrolled in universities outside Seoul, who paid at least 500,000 KRW in tuition fees for the first semester of 2021 and meet one of the income criteria.
Selected scholarship recipients will receive scholarships of 500,000 KRW or 1 million KRW per semester within the tuition fee range. In addition, they are eligible to apply for the 'Seoul Hope University Career Scholarship,' which supports career development expenses, and the 'Scholarship Student Growth Support Program,' which includes employment mentoring, career lectures, and scholarship student community meetings.
The Independence Patriots' Descendants Scholarship supports descendants of independence patriots who devoted themselves to Korea's independence but did not receive legal educational support. It selects 100 university students and provides an annual academic encouragement grant of 3 million KRW.
Eligible applicants are descendants from the great-grandchildren (4th to 6th generation) of independence patriots, who are enrolled in universities located in Seoul or Seoul citizens enrolled in universities outside Seoul. Selected scholarship recipients will also have opportunities to participate in volunteer programs linked with the local community.
