[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) is producing and distributing the 'Dobong Residents' Carbon Neutrality Practice Manual' to realize a carbon-neutral society by 2050, and is conducting the ‘Dobong Residents' Greenhouse Gas Reduction Pledge to Cut 4 Tons Per Person’ campaign together with environmental organizations.
The 'Dobong Residents' Carbon Neutrality Practice Manual' (subtitle: Green Life, I Draw Green Dobong!) is a manual that includes easy-to-practice items and related information in daily life, organized into seven green strategies: ▲Buildings ▲Transportation ▲Energy ▲Circulation ▲Forests ▲Lifestyle ▲Education.
The ‘Dobong Residents' Greenhouse Gas Reduction Pledge to Cut 4 Tons Per Person’ campaign encourages participants to choose and commit to practicing at least two of the following ‘Top 10 Greenhouse Gas Reduction Actions I Practice’: ▲Install eco-friendly boilers and maintain cooling/heating temperatures (summer above 26℃, winter below 20℃) ▲Drive eco-friendly and use public transportation once a week instead of private cars ▲Install mini solar panels at home ▲Cook only as much as needed (reduce electric rice cooker warming time by 3 hours) ▲Use energy-efficient TVs and electric rice cookers ▲Use reusable shopping bags instead of disposable plastic bags ▲Reduce food waste by 20% ▲Unplug unused TVs, washing machines, electric rice cookers, microwaves, and humidifiers ▲Separate recyclable glass bottles, cans, etc. ▲Join the Eco Mileage program and use eco-friendly products.
The detailed contents of the 'Dobong Residents' Carbon Neutrality Practice Manual' can be found in the e-book section of the district office website. To participate in the campaign, individuals can access the ‘Greenhouse Gas Reduction Pledge’ system via personal computers or mobile devices on the district office website (Life → Cleaning/Environment), or submit a written pledge directly.
Meanwhile, Dobong-gu will hold the ‘2050 Carbon Neutrality Practice All-Residents Resolution Rally’ on April 22, ‘Earth Day,’ and plans to distribute the practice manual and operate educational programs based on it.
Additionally, in cooperation with the ‘Dobong-gu 2050 Carbon Neutrality Practice Team,’ composed of eight organizations, promotional booths and an online promotion team will be operated while touring Changdong Station, Dobong Station, Ssangmun Station, and other locations to expand the pledge campaign to all residents.
Mayor Dongjin Lee of Dobong-gu stated, “Last year, our district was the first autonomous district in Seoul to establish the ‘2050 Dobong-gu Greenhouse Gas Reduction 7 Strategies,’ which are currently being implemented. To successfully achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the active participation of residents is essential.” He added, “We ask residents to actively join the ‘Greenhouse Gas Reduction Pledge to Cut 4 Tons Per Person’ campaign so they can reaffirm their commitment to practice.”
