At the meeting, Gu In-mo, the governor of Geochang-gun, along with provincial council members Kang Cheol-woo and Kim Il-su, Geochang County Council Chairman Kim Jong-du, council members Shim Jae-su, Kwon Jae-kyung, Lee Jae-woon, and senior officials of Geochang-gun attended.
The county proposed a total of 61 key projects, including eight policy proposals such as the withdrawal of the abolition of the nationwide recruitment special case for rural autonomous schools, as well as projects like the construction of the southern bypass road and the access road to the legal town.
In particular, they emphasized the reality that the Moonlight Inland Railroad (Daegu?Geochang?Gwangju) project, promoted for balanced national development and East-West harmony, was not included in the 4th National Railway Network Construction Plan (2021?2030) recently announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. They expressed concerns that national core transportation facilities such as the Southern Inland Railroad repeatedly bypass Geochang, causing residents to worry that Geochang might be stigmatized as a transportation blind spot.
Accordingly, on the 28th, six governors from Yeongnam and Honam regions gathered in Geochang-gun and issued a joint appeal requesting the inclusion of the Moonlight Inland Railroad in the 4th National Railway Network Construction Plan, urging the lawmaker’s active interest and support.
Assemblyman Kim expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you for visiting, including Governor Gu, to secure the national and provincial budget,” and added, “We will carefully review the proposed projects and do our best to have them reflected in the government budget as much as possible.”
