'Ericsson Silicon Day' Held on the 27th
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Ericsson LG introduced 'Ericsson Silicon' technology optimized for mobile networks such as 5G. It is the latest semiconductor design technology that reduces the size of silicon while integrating more functions to improve performance and energy efficiency.
H?kan Sellberg, CEO of Ericsson LG, held 'Ericsson Silicon Day' on the morning of the 28th at the Seoul R&D Campus near Gasan Digital Complex in Seoul and introduced Ericsson's new technology, Ericsson Silicon.
Ericsson Silicon is a system-on-chip (SoC) in the form of an ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) that combines hardware and software. It was designed from the early stages of product planning to maximize the performance of the entire mobile platform, from radio, RAN computing, to transport network equipment.
Ericsson Silicon has been applied to Ericsson's representative wireless lineup, the ERS product series, contributing to the improvement of 5G network quality and enhancement of energy efficiency. According to internal measurements, energy efficiency has improved up to 7 times compared to products released in 2016. Power consumption is also 30-60% lower than industry benchmarks. Security features are also included.
CEO H?kan Sellberg emphasized, "Ericsson has long applied custom-developed dedicated ASICs to mass-produced products," adding, "We will continue to actively support customers to meet market demands through continuous technological innovation."
