Samsung Electro-Mechanics Selected for 4th Consecutive Year as Top Grade in 'CDP Climate Change Response'
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced on the 28th that it has been selected for the Platinum Club, the highest grade, for four consecutive years in the '2020 CDP Climate Change Response Evaluation.'
CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) is a global non-profit organization that annually discloses climate change response strategies, greenhouse gas emission information, and reduction efforts of major listed companies worldwide to investors and financial institutions. The CDP evaluation results are recognized as one of the most reliable sustainability management evaluation indicators, along with the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) and the FTSE4Good Index.
This CDP climate change response evaluation assessed 80 items in three areas related to climate change response, including management's awareness of climate change and greenhouse gas emission calculation details, targeting 5,800 global and 224 domestic companies.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics established a dedicated organization for climate change response and received high scores across all evaluation items by implementing energy-saving activities such as introducing high-efficiency energy-saving equipment like refrigeration units, optimizing cooling temperatures in summer and winter, improving the operation methods of utility facilities, and transparently disclosing greenhouse gas emissions from overseas business sites through third-party verification, resulting in selection for the highest grade.
