How about taking a 'Seongsu Handmade Shoes Street Tour' while solving quizzes in Seongdong-gu?
May Full Month Seongsu-dong Handmade Shoes Street Tour Program Operated, Safe and Enjoyable Outdoors in Small Groups and Online...Last Year Seongsu Handmade Shoes Promotion Center Opened, Shushu Market Held, Work Environment Improved, Handmade Shoes Education and Various Support
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) will operate the Seongsu Handmade Shoes Street Tour program, ‘Project Shoes,’ throughout May.
In response to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the program supports performing quiz missions using a mobile app equipped with next-generation immersive technologies such as augmented reality (AR), utilizing a non-face-to-face online platform while touring the street.
‘Project Shoes’ is a program where participants walk around the Seongsu Handmade Shoes Hope Platform and Seongsu Station Shoe Theme Space in the area between Seongsu Station and Ttukseom Station, completing quiz missions based on stories displayed on their mobile device screens.
Designed to allow participants to learn about Seongsu handmade shoes in an engaging way by crossing between real and online spaces, the program offers prizes such as beverage coupons and handmade shoes through random draws when participants complete the program and take part in Seongdong-gu SNS events like online surveys and comments on the Seongdong-gu blog.
The program is free and open to all residents, who can participate by referring to the announcement on the district’s website and installing the app.
The Seongsu Handmade Shoes Street has established itself as the mecca of the country’s largest handmade shoe production area since the construction of the handmade shoe joint sales center (Seongsu Station) in November 2013 and the creation of the Seongsu Shoe Theme Station, including the selection of Seongdong-gu’s first handmade shoe master.
Last year, as part of the Seongsu handmade shoe specialization project, the Seongsu Handmade Shoes Promotion Center was opened, providing approximately 190 million KRW in support to 51 handmade shoe manufacturers to improve working environments, support the Shoe Shoe Market event, and conduct customized education for 328 people in handmade shoes and leather crafts.
This year, the district prepared the event to prevent the stagnation of the local economy and handmade shoe industry caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, aiming to introduce handmade shoes to the unfamiliar 2030 generation and encourage residents to visit, thereby revitalizing the area.
Additionally, a district official explained that the street tour program, which participants enjoy by solving quizzes, will also contribute to the psychological quarantine of residents exhausted by COVID-19.
