COVID-19 New Cases in 500s... 2,409,975 First Dose Vaccinations (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The number of new COVID-19 cases in South Korea has remained in the 500s for two consecutive days.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced on the 27th at midnight that 512 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed domestically, bringing the total to 119,898.
Of these, 477 cases were domestic transmissions, and 35 were imported cases.
By region, the Seoul metropolitan area recorded 321 cases: Seoul 116, Gyeonggi 191, and Incheon 14.
In non-metropolitan areas, Busan reported 30 cases, Gyeongnam 27, Gyeongbuk 20, Ulsan 18, Chungnam 14, Daegu and Chungbuk 9 each, Daejeon 8, Gwangju 6, Jeju 5, Jeonbuk 4, and Sejong, Gangwon, and Jeonnam 2 each.
Among the 35 imported cases, 23 were detected during quarantine, and the remaining 12 were identified within the local community. There were 12 Korean nationals and 23 foreigners.
The number of critically ill patients is 156, and the death toll increased by 3 from the previous day, totaling 1,820 deaths. The number of newly released from isolation increased by 845, bringing the total to 109,695.
The number of suspected cases tested was 48,631. At temporary screening clinics set up in the metropolitan area, 41,250 tests were conducted, confirming 60 positive cases. In non-metropolitan temporary screening clinics, 5,282 tests were conducted, identifying 4 positive cases. The total number of tests conducted was 95,163.
According to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, as of midnight on the same day, 141,937 people received new COVID-19 vaccinations, bringing the total number of first-dose recipients to 2,409,975. The number of new second-dose vaccinations was 21,598, with a total of 126,503 people having completed the second dose.
Of the vaccines administered, 1,370,841 doses were AstraZeneca, and 1,039,134 doses were Pfizer.
The number of suspected adverse reactions reported after COVID-19 vaccination increased by 546 cases from the previous day, totaling 14,155 cases.
Newly reported cases included 2 deaths, 4 suspected anaphylaxis cases, and 2 suspected severe cases.

Among the 546 cases, 538 were common side effects after vaccination such as muscle pain, headache, fever, chills, and nausea.
