Naju-si Launches 'Good Landlord Search Campaign'
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 27th that starting next month, it will launch the ‘Good Landlord Campaign’ to reduce commercial rent in order to support local small business owners and self-employed individuals.
Good landlords, recognized as unsung heroes during the COVID-19 era, will receive benefits such as government tax deductions and local government property tax reductions.
The government will deduct up to 70% of the rent reduction amount from income tax and corporate tax for good landlords until the end of this year (50% for those with comprehensive income exceeding 100 million KRW).
Additionally, free electrical safety inspection services will be provided to landlords who reduce commercial rent by 10% or more until the end of June.
For submission of related documents and inquiries, contact the Gwangju-Jeonnam Small and Medium Business Administration.
Naju City also offers property tax reduction benefits proportional to the reduction rate on the July building property tax (including urban area tax and local education tax) for landlords who reduce rent by 10% or more for three months or longer from June 2 last year to June 1 this year.
Applications for the reduction can be submitted to the city tax department by August 2.
The city plans to register and post the list of good landlords on the city hall website and issue certificates of good landlords, symbolizing sharing and coexistence, to encourage and expand participation in the good landlord campaign.
Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “The community spirit of good landlords who voluntarily reduce rent and share the pain of small business owners and self-employed individuals facing difficulties is a great help in overcoming the COVID-19 crisis. We will continue to do our best to promote policies that revitalize the local economy so that both landlords and tenants can coexist.”
