Seocho-gu Supports Young Artists' Independence with Customized Producing System
Seoripul Youth Culture Planning Group of 10 Members Begins Full-Scale Activities Under the Name RECOVER... Customized Producing Program for Young Artists Established with Long-Term, Systematic Support Through a 3-Year Program
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu District Office (Mayor Eunhee Cho) and Seocho Cultural Foundation (CEO Dongho Park) will nurture young artists and support their independence through a customized producing system over three years.
Ten young artists selected through an open recruitment for the Seoripul Cultural Planning Group held a launch ceremony on April 8 at the Seoripul Youth Art Center and officially began their activities under the name RECOVER.
The activity name RECOVER signifies restoring the daily life lost due to COVID-19.
The selected young artists will work according to the ‘customized producing system,’ a young artist independence model, and will be reborn as professional artists.
This system consists of three stages: selection, nurturing, and independence. First, two teams (a total of 10 people) are selected and educated through a systematic curriculum over two years by a dedicated producing team (Producer Woong Kang and Music Director Juwon Park). In the third year, one team is finally selected, recruited as a resident group of the Seocho Cultural Foundation, and continuously supported to enable independence as artists.
Since its inception in 2019, the Seoripul Youth Cultural Planning Group project has nurtured 39 young artists. In 2019 and 2020, the program was conducted for one year focusing on education, but from this year, the period has been extended to three years, marking a significant advancement by establishing Seocho-gu’s differentiated ‘young artist independence model.’
Additionally, the activity name was newly created as RECOVER to strengthen the identity of the planning group.
As Seocho-gu is a center of classical music, the first RECOVER group will base its activities on classical music. They plan to attempt various challenges to popularize classical music so that residents can enjoy it together, and will present participatory performance stages for residents in August and September.
