In response, Jeong retorted that Kim was "petty."
On the 24th, Kim responded on Facebook, saying, "Jeong Cheong-rae, the maker of absurd remarks who applies the 'Yeongnam old-fashioned party' frame, should bow and apologize to the people and the opposition party."
This was in rebuttal to Jeong's appearance on ytn's 'Current Affairs Talk Algorithm' on the 23rd, where he mentioned that the first-term lawmakers of the People Power Party stated they should not become the 'Yeongnam old-fashioned party' and questioned, "Will the first-term lawmakers really vote for Kim Ki-hyun, who is practically the frontrunner?" Kim responded, "Are Yeongnam people being treated as if they are some kind of corrupt forces? Does the Democratic Party choose its leader based on the candidate's region of origin rather than vision, ability, and qualifications?" He added, "That's why the party is in such a state." He emphasized, "Ahead of the presidential election, Jeong, who tries to sow discord and cause division within the opposition by confining the People Power Party to the 'Yeongnam party frame,' should immediately make a profound apology to the people and the opposition."
