The Murderer Playing Innocent 'Cerebral Aneurysm'... A Famous Actor's Confession That Summoned It to the World
Yoon Kye-sang "Accidentally found out, had surgery last year"
Disease with no symptoms, young people should not be complacent
Daedong Hospital "Prevention through regular cerebrovascular check-ups"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] It is a disease that cannot be taken lightly just because you are young. The “playing innocent killer,” brain aneurysm, which threatens life without clear symptoms, has recently come into the spotlight due to a confession by a popular star.
Yoon Kye-sang, a member of the popular group god and an actor in his early 40s, attracted public attention by revealing in a recent interview that he underwent brain aneurysm surgery last year.
He recalled the situation, saying, “I was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm by chance and received treatment, which I believe gave me another chance to live,” and added, “If I hadn’t known, I might have suddenly died one day.”
A brain aneurysm is a condition where a weak blood vessel wall in the brain balloons or bulges like a balloon or a twisted knot compared to normal brain blood vessels.
If a brain aneurysm ruptures, it can cause a hemorrhage called subarachnoid hemorrhage, which is a life-threatening condition.
According to the medical community, although the exact cause is unknown, risk factors include high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, smoking, age, female gender, and family history.
The brain is an organ that controls the central nervous system by clustering nerve cells and is directly linked to life. It must receive oxygen and nutrients through brain blood vessels, but if these vessels narrow or become blocked, causing inadequate blood flow or brain hemorrhage, brain damage and permanent disabilities can occur.
As in the case of Yoon Kye-sang in his early 40s, young people cannot be complacent about cerebrovascular diseases such as brain aneurysms.
Among various cerebrovascular diseases, brain aneurysm is a representative disease that can cause fatal brain damage.
Most brain aneurysms show no clear symptoms until they rupture and are often discovered incidentally during health checkups or when head examinations are performed due to symptoms like dizziness or headaches.
If brain hemorrhage caused by a brain aneurysm occurs, severe headaches, neck stiffness, seizures, paralysis, and neurological impairments along with decreased consciousness appear.
Even if a brain aneurysm has not ruptured, if it grows large enough to press on nearby nerves, neurological symptoms such as dizziness or visual disturbances may occur.
In the past, aneurysm clipping surgery, which involves tying off the aneurysm through surgery to prevent rupture, was mainly performed to treat brain aneurysms. However, recently, coil embolization is mainly performed, where a thin catheter is inserted through a small hole in the blood vessel of the thigh or arm, and coils are filled inside the aneurysm through the catheter to prevent rupture.
Coil embolization is preferred because it causes less scarring and brain damage, and statistically, the treatment results are not significantly different from surgical methods.

Dr. Kim advised, “It is difficult to detect small cerebrovascular abnormalities with simple brain CT or brain MRI alone, so it is recommended to perform cerebrovascular imaging even during general health checkups.”

To prevent brain aneurysms, it is recommended to manage underlying conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia regularly; quit smoking; abstain from alcohol; engage in appropriate exercise; maintain a healthy diet; and undergo preventive regular checkups if there is a family history.
