[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) announced on the 23rd that it has recently established an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Committee. With the creation of this ESG Committee, AMCHAM plans to more actively support its member companies' efforts toward sustainable management.
James Kim, Chairman and CEO of AMCHAM, stated, "ESG management is no longer a short-term trend but has become a new paradigm and core strategy for corporate growth. I hope AMCHAM's ESG Committee will serve as a key platform for our member companies throughout this exciting innovation process."
The newly established ESG Committee is co-chaired by three individuals: Jim Poltesek of 3M Korea, Andrew Ryu of DOW Korea, and Balaka Niyazee of P&G. The committee will serve as the central communication hub for ESG-related issues faced by American companies in Korea and will be responsible for setting the direction and strategy of the ESG Committee.
