[Concall] Hyundai Motor "Pursuing Development of Optimized Battery... Targeting Mass Production by 2030"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Koo Ja-young, Executive Vice President in charge of IR at Hyundai Motor Company, stated during the Hyundai Motor 2021 Q1 earnings conference call held on the 22nd, "We are promoting the development of batteries optimized for performance and price by market and application to respond to the expanding electrification market," adding, "We aim to internalize technology for both lithium-ion batteries and next-generation batteries." He continued, "We aim to apply the optimal battery through collaboration with the three domestic battery companies and overseas firms."
He also explained, "In particular, to ensure battery safety, we are strengthening battery cell quality and developing battery safety monitoring systems during charging and parking," and added, "We are striving to secure technological manufacturing competitiveness through domestic and international networking, aiming for pilot mass production in 2025, preparation for mass production in 2027, and full-scale mass production in 2030."
