Chungnam, Public Data Provision Operation Status Evaluation 'Grade 1'
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province received a Grade 1 (Excellent Institution) rating in the '2020 Public Data Provision Operation Status Evaluation' conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
According to the province on the 22nd, the evaluation is conducted annually targeting central administrative agencies, local governments, and public institutions in accordance with the Act on the Provision and Use of Public Data (Article 9).
The evaluation criteria include ▲public data management system ▲opening ▲utilization ▲quality, among other areas. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety conducts the evaluation to understand the overall operation of public data by each entity and to feedback for policy improvement, aiming to increase public satisfaction.
In this year's evaluation, the province scored 85.47 points, which is 15.97 points higher than the national average of 69.5 points. Chungnam is also the only provincial-level local government to receive a Grade 1 rating nationwide.
The province plans to comprehensively oversee data tasks such as public and big data and statistics through the newly established 'Data Policy Officer' created in the organizational restructuring in January of this year, and to lead the Digital New Deal proactively.

A provincial official stated, "Centered on the Data Policy Officer's office newly established in the organizational restructuring last January, we will do our best in operating and managing public data this year as well."
