Chonnam National University Professor Confirmed Positive... Concerns Over Spread of Infection on Campus
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] A professor at Chonnam National University has tested positive for COVID-19, raising concerns about additional infections among students and staff.
According to Gwangju City and Chonnam National University on the 21st, Professor A, in his 50s and affiliated with Chonnam National University, tested positive for COVID-19 after being tested the previous day and was classified as Gwangju case number 2321.
The source of Professor A's infection is case number Jeonnam 1008, who tested positive on the 19th.
Professor A, who visited a hof pub located in Buk-gu, Gwangju on the 14th, is believed by health authorities to have been infected due to overlapping movement paths with Jeonnam case 1008.
Testing is currently underway for students and staff who had contact with Professor A at Chonnam National University.
Health authorities are focusing on identifying additional contacts of Professor A.
