Muan-gun Provides 40-100% Major Support for Childcare Services
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 21st that since the 19th, it has been implementing a co-payment support project for the childcare service to alleviate the childcare and economic burdens on parents, which have been increasing due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The childcare service is a system where caregivers directly visit households with children under 12 years old experiencing childcare gaps, such as dual-income families, single-parent families, and families with multiple children, to reduce their childcare burden.
The support target is households currently residing in Muan County with children aged over 3 months and under 12 years old who use the childcare service.
Until now, many families felt burdened by the cost of up to 10,040 KRW per hour, but through this project, 40% to 100% of the co-payment based on income type will be supported by county funds.
Therefore, families using the service only need to pay up to 6,024 KRW as their co-payment, and families with three or more children under 12 years old will receive full support for their co-payment.
In particular, ‘Type Ra’ households exceeding 150% of the median income, which had not received government support until now, will be able to receive 40% support for childcare service costs through this support project.
The support funds will be operated by refunding the co-payment prepaid when using the childcare service to the user’s personal account by the service provider at the end of the following month.
