Korea Corus announced on the 21st that it shipped the second dose 'Validation Batch' of the Sputnik V vaccine on the 20th and sent it to Russia via air freight. Earlier, Korea Corus had shipped the Validation Batch for the first dose on the 1st of this month.
Validation is a procedure that guarantees and verifies whether a specific process continuously produces products that meet established specifications and quality factors. It is the final stage of pharmaceutical contract manufacturing, and passing this stage brings the shipment of commercial production quantities within reach.
A Korea Corus official explained, "We produced the Validation Batch together during the visit of researchers from the Russian sovereign wealth fund (RDIF)," adding, "Through this, we have established a foundation for complete technology transfer and smooth commercial production." Korea Corus plans to promptly ship commercial quantities once the local regulatory approval process in Russia is completed.
