[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jun-hyung] Former President Lee Myung-bak, who was hospitalized to treat chronic illnesses, was discharged on the 19th and returned to Anyang Prison.
According to the Ministry of Justice, former President Lee was discharged on the same day after undergoing a thorough examination at Seoul National University Hospital. He was re-admitted to Seoul National University Hospital on the 16th to treat chronic illnesses such as diabetes.

Former President Lee is currently serving a prison sentence after the Supreme Court confirmed a 17-year imprisonment, a fine of 13 billion KRW, and a confiscation of 5.78 billion KRW on charges including bribery under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes last October.
