Seoul City Hires Four Severely Disabled Individuals as Regular Civil Servants
Hiring a Total of 4 People: 1 Computer Grade 7, 1 Veterinary Grade 7, 1 Computer Grade 9, and 1 Communication Technology Grade 9
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] To commemorate 'Disability Day,' the Seoul Metropolitan Government will hire four people with severe disabilities through a competitive career recruitment exam.
On the 20th, Seoul announced that to mark Disability Day, four positions will be filled across four institutions: the Waterworks Headquarters, the Citizen Health Bureau, Gwangjin District Office, and Seocho District Office. The positions include one Level 7 Computer Specialist, one Level 7 Veterinary Specialist, one Level 9 Computer Specialist, and one Level 9 Telecommunications Technician. The job fields cover water billing system management, animal protection and welfare management, information system development and operation, and broadcasting and telecommunications facility operation and management.
This exam is open to those classified as severely disabled under the 'Act on the Promotion of Employment and Vocational Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons.' For the Level 7 Veterinary Specialist and Level 9 Computer Specialist positions, applicants must hold the required certifications. For the Level 7 Computer Specialist and Level 9 Telecommunications Technician positions, applicants must have relevant work experience depending on the type of certification.
Applications can be submitted online at the Seoul Metropolitan Government Internet Application Center from May 3 to May 10, for eight days. After the document screening results are finalized on June 18, interviews will be held on July 2, and the final successful candidates will be announced on July 16. Kim Tae-gyun, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Administration Bureau, stated, “Despite the employment environment being constrained due to COVID-19, the city is making efforts to promote public service entry for socially vulnerable groups such as people with severe disabilities.” He added, “Even after selection, we will do our best to ensure that disabled public officials can work stably through customized support such as assistive technology devices and work assistants.”
